Walk & Talk with Dr Daz
Move More
It has been said that if someone could package the benefits of exercise into a pill, they would become an overnight billionaire. Indeed, there is overwhelming evidence that exercise is a powerful medicine. Unfortunately, and to their detriment, an increasing number of people don’t move enough. Learning to negotiate the barriers and leverage the enablers can help us to live more active.
PS – It would be fitting to walk with me for this “walk and talk”!
Think
1. What is your gut response to the word “exercise”? Does it conjure feelings of pleasure or pain? How could you make being active more pleasurable and less painful?
2. Is time, motivation and/or the weather a “barrier” for you with regards to being active? What other barriers do you encounter? What practical ways might be you be able to negotiate these barriers?
3. How could you harness the power of “enablers” to help you to move more? Do you like to be active with others or do you appreciate the opportunity to introvert? What activities do you enjoy the most? Are you goal orientated, and if so, what is a goal that you might set for yourself?
