Walk & Talk with Dr Daz
Go with the flow!
Experiencing moments of “flow”—characterised by being highly engaged in an activity—is an important contributor to wellbeing. People experience flow in different ways, but we can be intentional about fostering more magical moments of flow.
Think
1. Describe a time when you were “in the zone” at work and were highly engaged in the activity. Was it a time when your skills were well matched to the demands of the activity? In what aspects of your work (i.e. particular tasks, etc) are you most likely to experience “flow”?
2. Have you noticed that there are particular circumstances (i.e. time of day, working in a certain space/place, connecting with others or on your own free of distractions) that are most conducive to creating flow for you? How could you use these insights to be intentional about setting the scene for moments of flow?
3. What activities outside of work foster flow for you? How often do you get to enjoy them? If you don’t get to experience them as often as you would like, how might you change that?
